Anger is one such characteristic flaw of many, including you and me. No one can predict the behaviour of someone who is hot tempered. Similarly you cannot predict what Dulquer Salmaan is going to do next in the movie ‘Kali’.
There is a link between audience and the protagonists of this movie and that link is nothing but the feeling of rage or anger at its maximum.
Dulquer Salmaan really perfected his role as Siddharth a hot tempered guy working as a bank employee. Being a bank relationship manager, he is bound to handle the customers of the bank. But due to his anger, he often fails in his duty.
The story thread is anger and the director has connected around the theme so well. The plots are so well knit together. This is the reason why we do not feel we are not gone away to a romantic land even when Dulquer Salmaan romances with Sai Pallavi on the screen. The romance and marriage take place in the first half itself and there is nothing draggy here. The film too concentrates more on the post marriage life of both.
Dulquer Salmaan wears the role of Siddharth and lives as if like one among us. Siddharth is not just a hot tempered man but a delegate of all those who have this characteristic flaw of anger.
Now Anjali (Sai Pallavi) as his wife often becomes the victim of his anger. Now in the second half they decide to go for a car-trip. The entire second half revolves around this trip and the incidents that occur one after another, finally leading Siddharth overpower his hot tempered nature. Thus the film ends with a happy note.
Dulquer has done his role with extra perfection and so does Sai Pallavi. She remains impressive throughout the movie as he did in her first Malayalam movie ‘Premam’ in which she paired with Nivin Pauly, another hot young Malayalam actor. She does her best in giving voice to her character but at certain points her attempt fails miserably. Chemban Vinod Jose and Vinayakan too make their presence felt.
Rajesh Gopinadhan’s script has been successfully given life by director Samir Tahir. Gopi Sundar has done the background score.
My Verdict
If you face the same situation in life or have someone hot tempered as your friend, relative or anyone you know you will easily connect yourself with Dulquer Salmaan’s Siddharth. It is a good movie worth watching and I would give a rating between 6 and 7 on 10.
